Interregional innovation investments for biofertilizers and circular bioeconomy solutions for a sustainable agriculture
In General
I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS aims to promote interregional cooperation to support the scaling-up, demonstration, and go-to-market of a series of innovation investments in bio-fertilizers across Europe. Each identified business case is based on a previous needs analysis that demonstrates the potential disruptive potential of these cases and their possible contribution, once in the market, to supporting sustainability and circular economy in agriculture. It seeks to support the development of a new transnational value chain in biofertilizers and bioeconomy solutions towards a sustainable agriculture.
More Information
The primary aim is to expand, trial, and exhibit a collection of 8 investment/business propositions, each resulting in pioneering bio-fertilizers (including biostimulants) and sustainable agriculture solutions. This endeavor will be complemented by a cascade funding initiative, targeting assistance to 30 SMEs/startups addressing prevailing market and technical obstacles in the field. In addition to financial aid, the project will offer technical, business, and innovation advisory services to aid beneficiaries in implementing their projects.
Furthermore, I3-4-BIOFERTILIZERS will furnish regional ecosystem stakeholders, particularly SMEs, with capacity-building and investment readiness expertise, alongside go-to-market assistance, knowledge dissemination, and best practices exchange, drawing from interregional cooperation, financing, and industry perspectives. It will also facilitate access to an interregional collaborative network and living lab for the demonstration of innovative biofertilizer production and sustainable practices.
To optimize the impact of this initiative, the project will establish an "Excellence Competence Centre on Biofertilizers and Sustainable Agriculture," serving as a permanent hub offering innovation and financial advisory services to SMEs and regions. This endeavor will foster interregional cooperation in the sector, ultimately enhancing interregional competitiveness and bridging the gap between developed and less developed regions. It will pave the way for the emergence of new Regional Innovation Valleys focused on circular and sustainable agriculture.
AGENSO Contribution
AGENSO will lead and execute a digital innovation investment plan, concentrating on deploying a decision support system for enhanced fertilization. It will also support project communication, dissemination efforts, and other cross-cutting activities, such as technical training and advisory services in agtech and digital solutions, fostering sustainable agriculture.
