On February 28, 2020 the 2nd Workshop of INNOSETA was held in Filiatra, under the topic of "Precision spraying at the Greek greenhouses", which was organized by INNOSETA’s project partner AGENSO in cooperation with the Directorate of Agricultural Economics and Veterinary Medicine.
The event was held at the Voreeion Cultural Centre, and the participants reached 49, including producers, researchers, agronomists and entrepreneurs.
The workshop started with formal greetings by Antonis Paraskevopoulos, Director of the Directorate of Rural Economy and Veterinary of Trifylia and Zisis Tsiropoulos, Chief Executive Officer of AGENSO. Participants learned about INNOSETA project and its online platform, from Chrysi Papadogianni, Agronomist at AGENSO. Guest speakers presented technologies and methodologies about spraying. More specifically, Dr. Spyros Fountas, Associate Professor at the Agricultural University of Athens presented the possibilities of using new technologies in the application of plant protection products. Evangelos Anastasiou, Agronomist at AGENSO, talked about precision spraying technologies in greenhouses, while AGENSO company as well as the precision farming solutions that provides were presented by Panagiotis Stamatelopoulos, Chief Technology Officer of the company. Marios Prapopoulos, MSc Operations Management from DIMITRA EMPORIKI MIKE, analysed the possibilities and benefits of precision agriculture and robotics for the producers.
Afterwards Dr. Thanos Balafoutis Agricultural Engineer from the National Center for Research and Technological Development (CERTH), presented the three thematic groups of the workshop. Then the participants were divided in the three thematic groups and discussed about the technologies of the following thematic groups:
- Calibration and best practices for spraying
- Precision spraying technologies for greenhouses
- Prevention of point sources pollution - Environmental safety and personal protection equipment
In total, 31 technologies (SETAs) were presented covering a wide range of greenhouse spraying applications such calibration of spraying machines, evaluation of PPPs coverage, best practices, innovative spraying machines, precision nozzles as well as personal protection and cleaning equipment for sprayers. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about these technologies and suggested ideas for their improvement. They referred to the problems they face and whether they are solved through these technologies or not.
At the end of the workshop, all the participants emphasized the usefulness of such actions (like the workshops) as they can better understand new technologies and learn more about their benefits. They also pointed out that working with professionals and experts in the field of agriculture gives them the chance to optimize their spraying methodologies and make the best use of these technologies taking advantage of their benefits.
The last INNOSETA workshop will take place on March 18, 2020 in Kiato under the theme "Precision Spray Technologies in Greek Vineyards".
